Preparing for Paris with Movies

This weekend, my mother and I are getting away for a quick weekend trip to Paris.  We are going to spend two days in the city and try to squeeze in as many sights as possible while also trying to absorb that unique Parisian charm.

Paris serves as the backdrop to some of my favorite movies.  So, to celebrate and prepare for our big trip, I want to share my top 5 with you...

The DaVinci Code

From the first time I read this book, I've wanted to see the Lourve.  And next week, I will.  Might even pull this pose.  Pics to come...

Paris, je t'aime

Caught this one on Netflix on a bored husband-less night.  So glad I did.  18 short films, all starring big actors, each set in a different district of Paris, capturing the essence of each arrondissement.  So good.  If you know or love Paris, you must watch this. I hear they made a New York one too.

Amelie

Starring that gem of France, Audrey Tatou.  There is absolutely nothing not to like about this movie.

Moulin Rouge

Baz Luhrman and Ewan MacGregor.  Oui Oui.

Midnight in Paris

Quickly became a favorite movie of mine after only seeing it once.  This is the quintessential, literary-lover's perspective of Paris.

Do you have a favorite Parisian-set film that is on your list?  Any recommendations?

The Da Vinci Code also made me really want to see the Lourve, too! I am not a big art museum fan but I would really love to see the Mona Lisa

Darn. None of those are on Instant Play! Paris was so cool when we went... it was also for a weekend, but jam-packed!

I love Midnight in Paris - and you must eat a chocolate croissant for me when you're there, and french macaroons, and a freshly baked baguette (can you tell what *I* would do in Paris? haha)

Oh! You need to watch Marie Antoinette to get in the mood :) The weird one with Kirsten Dunst ;) and then go to Versailles <3

I haven't seen any of these! I was very young when I visited Paris so I don't remember much, but the Louvre and Versailles totally stand out in my mind. I remember seeing the Mona Lisa and in my 6-year old mind thinking, "Wow...it's really small!" Haha!

Such a good way to prepare yourself! I'm so envious that you can just take a "quick weekend" to Paris. Amazing :)

Midnight in Paris and Moulin Rouge are two of my all-times favorite movies. I've seen a few of the short stories from Paris J'Taime and loved it. I haven't seen the Da Vinci Code but I really really want to. I loved Paris. It was one of the best times of my life and I want to go back so bad. Have an amazing time!!

Amélie is defintely one of the best movies ever. I even had the theme song play when I walked down the aisle! Midnight in Paris was a very fun film too! And all the other ones you mentioned. Although I haven't seen Paris, Je t'aime.

I need to look up the collection of short films on Netflix. That sounds great! And I hope you're having a blast in Paris. :)
